The annual Turlock Christmas Parade attracts thousands of residents every year and traverses the Downtown core. Vehicular traffic should be advised of the multiple road closures set up for this event.
Every year, the parade begins on Canal Drive by Johnson Road, heads west on Main Street through Downtown Turlock, and then north on Broadway Avenue, eventually concluding at the the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds.
Multiple closures will be in effect. Main Street will be closed between Canal Drive and Lander Avenue. Along Main Street, the closures will begin as early as 1 p.m, however, Golden State Boulevard will remain open until 5 p.m. for thru traffic.
Visitors to Downtown businesses or Christmas Parade vendors should be aware that there is no parking on Main Street between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. This section of Main Street will be closed until 10 p.m.
Parking will be prohibited on Canal Drive and on North Broadway Avenue from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday.
Turlock Unified School District notified residents with a robocall that the parade impacts the area around Turlock High School, Julien Elementary School, and the District Office, which are all located along Canal Drive. They advised parents to plan ahead in order to avoid delays.
The City has advised detouring around the closures with Johnson Road or Lander Avenue.
