Turlock Farmer’s Market Returns May 2, Adds Coffee, Meat, Egg Vendors

The Turlock Certified Farmer’s Market will open May 2, with a slew of new vendors in tow.

“This year will be a better market because we will have coffee, meat and eggs, which we didn’t have last year,” said Market Manager Derek Griffin.

Nearly all vendors from last year will return, alongside a host of new vendors including Friday Grind, which will offer fresh ground coffee, Castro’s BBQ, which offers Filipino cuisine, Wolfsen’s Meat & Sausage, which will sell fresh chicken and steak, Three-Acre Farm, which will sell farm-fresh eggs, Ketsher’s Garden, Colston’s Dog Treats and Valeria’s Gifts, which features handmade jewelry.

Griffin says the Turlock Farmer’s Market has become so popular it now has a waiting list for vendors.

Several weeks after its May 2 grand opening, the Turlock Certified Farmer’s Market will begin offering EBT. Customers on EBT will swipe their card and receive wooden tokens that they can then use on nutritious foods for sale at the market.

“It will be nice to have EBT available for people who need it,” said Griffin.

The market, which is held in Downtown Turlock on Broadway between Main and A streets, runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays from May through October. Night markets will also return some Fridays, scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on June 13, Sept. 5 and Oct. 24.

The wildly popular themed market days are also returning, including CSU Stanislaus Day, Kids Day and Art at the Market. This year will feature a new Meet the Candidates Day and a Senior Citizen’s Day.

The early schedule for May includes a Mother’s Day Celebration May 9, a Bike to Market Day with valet and bike corral parking on May 23, and on May 16 members of the Turlock City Council will bike to the Market. A more precise schedule will be available in the coming weeks.
