Turlock Hot Spots Offer New Year’s Eve Parties

The New Year is a time for rebuilding yourself— a time to take all those adventures you promised you’d take. How better to ring in the New Year than to celebrate New Year's Eve like never before?

The Grizzly Rock Cafe plans to host their own little celebration— an unofficial Black and White party thrown by one of their regulars, Carly Beard.

“Formal attire appreciated, but not required,” said Grizzly Rock owner Frank Sanders with a laugh. “We’re just having a nice get-together.”

Sanders also mentioned that complimentary champagne would be offered, depending on how many attend. This hometown sports bar and barbecue is located 4905 Golden State Blvd.

For those looking for a dinner and dance, the Turlock Pentecost Association is having a New Year’s Eve bash at the Turlock Ballroom. Social hour begins at 6:30 p.m with a steak and shrimp dinner starting at 7:30 p.m. Then, from 9:00 p.m. to 1 a.m., attendees can dance their hearts out. There will be an open bar, and ID is required. Tickets are $50 per person 21 years of age and older, $25 per person 12 to 20 years of age, and free for those 12 years of age and under. For tickets, contact Bobby Estacio at 209-678-3801. The Turlock Ballroom is located at 528 N. Golden State Blvd.

Toscana’s At the Tower will also be having a high-class party that night, starting at 10 p.m. Tickets are $10, or free for those who have dinner before the party. The “Late Night Menu” starts at 9 p.m. and features their Tomato Basil Bruschetta ($9.00), Almond Crusted Chicken Skewers ($14.00), Korean BBQ Beef ($16.00) as well as Artichoke and Chicken Pizza ($14.00) and Margarita Pizza ($12.00). A number of other entrees and starters will be offered as well. This classy New Year’s treat will doubtlessly sell out early, so contact Toscana’s and make reservations as soon as possible. Call 209-216-3555 for more information. The restaurant is located at 1801 Colorado Ave.

10 East Kitchen and Tap Room will be open up until 12 midnight on the big night. Although they won’t be offering any specials for the evening, champagne is available at $36.00 for a bottle and $11.00 a glass. The restaurant will be serving from their dinner menu which boasts appetizing entrees like Korean Short Ribs or their “Shrimp and Grits” that features shrimp, Andouille sausage, roasted tomatoes, and Cheesy Anson Mills Heirloom Grits. The restaurant is located at 10 E. Main St.

Center Street Grill, aptly located at 120 N. Center St., will be open for the festivities as well, but like 10 East will not be serving any additional specials. The highlights of their menu are their Taco Salad Bowl ($13.95), their Marinated Grilled Chicken ($5.00), The One and Only Burger ($10.95) and their Grilled Ahi Tuna ($17.95).

El Charro will offer their usual drink specials, like $2.00 Happy Hour margaritas and pints, but will be bringing in champagne for the occasion. The owner says it’s looking to be a pretty busy night, so grab a spot early – and don’t forget some of their rave-worthy salsa. The restaurant is located at 942 N. Golden State Blvd.

Unfortunately, local hotspots Dust Bowl Brewing Company and Red Brick Bar & Grill will not be open for the festivities. Dust Bowl will close at 10 p.m. – their normal hours – while Red Brick staff will take the night off.

“We’ve tried it before in the past and it really didn’t benefit us,” said Red Brick co-owner Caroline Backus. “We didn’t really have much of a crowd in here.”
