Turlock Police Investigating Homicide on Baywood

The Turlock Police Department is reporting that a late-night shooting has left one 22-year-old man dead.

Turlock police received 911 calls of a drive-by shooting in the 1100 block of Baywood Lane at approximately 11:40 p.m. Thursday. Reports said at least one person was down in the yard.

Officers arrived on scene to find victim with a life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital, but was later succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Marcus Culebro, 22, of Turlock.

Preliminary investigation indicates multiple unknown suspects arrived at the residence in the 1100 block of Baywood Lane, where they beat and tied up one of the residents.

When the suspects were leaving the home, several friends were returning from a trip to a local store. The victim was shot as he was exiting the car and the suspects fled.

Investigators found that there were more than 190 marijuana plants, averaging approximately 3.5 feet in height, in the home. It is unknown at this time if this may have been a factor in the homicide, said the Turlock Police Department.

Turlock police investigators are actively pursuing leads and attempting to gather more information regarding descriptions of suspects and how they fled the scene, said the Turlock Police Department.
