This Christmas season, Turlock Together, a voluntary cooperation of ministries, business, non-profit organizations, schools, service clubs, and community members, joined together once again to serve over 1,000 families within the Turlock community and surrounding areas.

The groups involved in Turlock Together worked to collect and distribute toys to families in need during the Christmas season. According to Debi Shrum, of the Turlock Salvation Army, over 6,000 toys were also collected for children ages 12 and under.

Approximately 1,791 families were registered to receive toys and food baskets. Out of that number were also 291 senior citizens in need. Food baskets included non-perishable and perishable food items, such as spaghetti, cereal, chicken, milk, eggs, and other mixings for a good Christmas dinner.

Shrum was also involved with the Christmas dinner put on by the Salvation Army in Turlock that was held on Christmas day from 12pm to 2pm. The dinner, which was held at the Salvation Army gym located at 893 Lander Avenue, fed over 1,000 individuals.

Turlock Together donation bins were placed all around the City of Turlock, and although the Christmas season is over, donations can still be made to the Salvation Army in Turlock that will be put into storage for next year’s holiday season.
