TUSD to Keep Schools Open Today and Friday, Despite Storm

In response to parent concerns Turlock Unified School District officials announced schools will not be closed at any point Thursday or Friday.

TUSD released the following statement:

“As a result of Turlock not being in the direct path of the approaching storm as indicated on multiple weather reports, TUSD should not be experiencing excessive high winds that are occurring higher north. In our communications with neighboring districts, we have not been made aware of any school district’s plan to cancel school for students and staff today or tomorrow.”

TUSD officials will be in communication with City of Turlock officials over the next 36 hours in an effort to keep all students and staff safe. Principals and staffs at school sites will make necessary adjustments to their schedules and routines for safety and the keep children out of harm’s way during this storm.

According to weather reports, winds are expected to be 25 to 40 mph with heavy rain and occasional thunderstorms Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and there is a flood advisory through 10 p.m. Friday.
