Turlock School Board To Talk Academic Progress

The Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees will hold a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the TUSD Professional Development Center, 1100 Cahill Ave.

A light agenda will be kicked off with inspirational messages and a flag salute from Wakefield Elementary students Leonardo Gutierrez and Jaseon Harris, who are this month’s Character Counts award recipients for “trustworthiness.”

The Board of Trustees will hear presentations on the district's academic progress, which includes improvements in English Language Arts and Math. They will also hear an update on technology progress, which includes an audit to determine the district's technology needs.

In action items the board will vote to approve recommendations for salaried positions for Comptroller and an Assistant Principal at Cunningham Elementary. Also they will vote for a change order in the amount of $15,014 for the Julien Elementary Modernization Project.

On the consent calendar the board will vote to approve an out-of-state trip for the Dutcher Middle School Drama Club's annual trip to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, May 8 to 11, 2014 and various personal service contracts for agriculture, anti-bullying assemblies, literacy development and life science standards instruction.
